The hug. A simple, yet profound gesture that when shared makes a significant
impact on one's overall well-being. A hug can dispel loneliness, reduce
blood pressure and ease depression. It is no less than a miracle drug
with countless benefits and yet, people don't share enough hugs.
National Hug Holiday was originally launched to support folks with eating disorders. In 1989 it was passed onto the Hugs for Health Foundation
to further efforts to increase awareness of the need for hugs, fellowship and volunteer
support for the elderly in senior care and residential communities. A monumental need today and an issue I hope to one day address again.
In the meantime, National Hug Holiday Week is celebrated to increase hug abundance on
the planet and make a difference one hug at a time. Huggers across the country and around the world are encouraged to share hugs and fill their daily hug prescription and in doing so help others to fill theirs.
Join in the celebration! Share hugs with your loved ones throughout the week and beyond.
If you're really an enthusiastic hugger - let the world know you hug and order one of our hug t-shirts. You'll be amazed how many huggers you'll attract when you wear one!
Happy Hugging-
